Kulu Mele Day 11-28-20
Join Kulu Mele for a full day of virtual programs on November 28, 2020!

We meet online starting at 10am for a series of dance and drum classes taught by our company members including Cachet Ivey and Ama Schley. At 7pm we present Substance a program of works from our archive curated by Artistic Director Dorothy Wilkie and produced by Aidan Un. You’ll see the range of Kulu Mele’s love for African Culture in West African, Afro Cuban, and Hip Hop dances by choreographers such as Arisa Ingram, Acacia Reed, and Jeffrey Page. Meet us live on social media right after the show for some music and fellowship hosted by the Kulu Mele Board of Directors.

Tickets are on sale now. See you at Kulu Mele Day.

A Note From Dorothy Wilkie

With this new Kulu Mele video We’re Coming Out, I am looking forward. This is the work we plan to perform next. I’m excited to keep the work going, considering everything we’ve been through this year. After Ogun & the People, I was on such a cloud. And then the new year came. The virus. The killings. The riots. People coming together, protesting Black Lives Matter continuously, worldwide.

What Kulu Mele does is like medicine. This road that we’re on is like medicine.

We made the video to tell you that we are definitely coming through this together. It’s a light in the road. There’s hope.

We will keep you posted about our program schedule, and about opportunities to be with Kulu Mele virtually. Be well. Be in touch.
